In the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, China's social history underwent epoch-making changes. Royal family of the Zhou Dynasty declined, and Zhuhou(the feudal official under the emperor) became strong enough to fight for hegemony, and the "rites of Zhou Dynasty" to maintain the feudal patriarchal hierarchy system were greatly damaged, and the society was in turmoil. At this time, the intellectuals representing the interests of all classes were very active and became an important social force. They came to the stage of history one after another, wrote books and put forward solutions to social problems, forming a prosperous situation in which a hundred schools of thought contended. Among them, Confucianism, Legalism and Daoism respectively designed a set of plans to end separation and realize unified governance for the new landlord class, which laid the foundation for the choice of social governance thought after the Qin and Han Dynasties.
