What are the differences between the environmental approach and the social approach to crime prevention?
The environmental approach is situational prevention and is based on rational choice theory which encompasses effort, risk, reward and excuse of committing crimes, (and it needs broad-based planning and architectural design). The social approach focuses on the offender of crime and hence it aims to prevent crimes through the social impacts on actors: to emphasize community development, minimize social-economic exclusion, address social deficits, change personal values, and conduct earl intervention.
